Two months before moving:

a) Assessment conducted by a Ward Van Lines agent at your home.

d) If you are Chilean/foreigner, you shall provide the following documentation:

  • Photocopy of Chilean ID (Client & family group – both sides).
  • Photocopy of Passport(s) (Only passport photo page – client & family group).
  • Photocopy of Air Ticket(s) (Or e-ticket – client & family group).
  • Notarized Authorization (Only sign and fingerprint).
  • Sworn Statement (Complete – except “Valor FOB” – sign and fingerprint).
  • Salvoconducto (Obtain at the Notary nearest to your home, indicating delivery address in Av. Americo Vespucio 2050, Quilicura).

e) If you are a Chilean diplomat, you shall provide the following documentation:

  • Photocopy of Chilean ID (Client & family group – both sides).
  • Photocopy of Passport(s) (Only passport photo page – client & family group).
  • Photocopy of Air Ticket(s) (Or e-ticket – client & family group).
  • Notarized Authorization (Only sign and fingerprint).
  • Sworn Statement (Complete – except “Valor FOB” – sign and fingerprint).
  • Photocopy of Decree of Appointment stamped by MOFAT (Decree Law of Appointment given by the Institution or the official).
  • Salvoconducto (Obtain at the Notary nearest to your home, indicating delivery address in Av. Americo Vespucio 2050, Quilicura).

f) If you are a foreign diplomat, you shall provide the following information:

  • Photocopy of Chilean ID (Client & family group – both sides).
  • Photocopy of Passport(s) (Only passport photo page – client & family group).
  • Export Form (Document must be requested to the Embassy for issuance).
  • Notarized Authorization stamped by the Embassy to which belongs (Issued by the Embassy to which belongs).
  • Salvoconducto (Obtain at the Notary nearest to your home, indicating delivery address in Av. Americo Vespucio 2050, Quilicura).
One month and a half before moving:

a) Verify that you have all the documentation required to travel.
b) Reserve your tickets ahead of time.
c) Analyze possible alternate routes.
d) Request information regarding property lease or sale in the embassy of the country of destination.

One month before moving:

a) Reserve a hotel in your destination and in the places you will be visiting during your trip.
b) Consult the international representative of your local bank regarding funds transfer and foreign currency.
c) Prepare a personal document file (birth certificates, school and medical records, marriage certificates, etc.) and carry it with you all the time.
d) Report your address change to your local bank, post office, subscriptions, family members and friends.

Twenty days before moving:

a) Send to the cleaners any clothes, curtains, carpets and everything you think it needs to be washed.
b) Prepare a garage sale for those items that you won’t take with you; set prices and make an inventory.

Fifteen days before moving

a) Garage sale day. Ask your friends for help and consider security measures in your area.

Ten days before moving:

a) Cancel your local bank accounts and credit cards that you won’t be using anymore.

One week before moving:

a) Inform your light company and Telephone Company about your moving.

Two days before moving:

a) Gather all your valuable items and jewelry. Make sure you keep them at hand.

One day before moving:

a) Empty your icebox and defrost it.
b) Unplug all electronics and their components.

The day you’re moving:

a) The time has come. Relax and watch while our experts work. Feel free to ask anything you would like to know.

Foreign citizens with working visa o temporary visa for more than one year.

Household Goods:

  • They may import used Household goods up to US$ 5.000.- free of taxes and duties.
  • They will may bring more than the above amount, but will pay around 26 % on the overflow and over CIF value
  • It is not allowed to bring two or more shipments from different origins, only in justified cases. They must be in Chile before the shipment´s arrivals. Shipments must arrive within 120 days from shipper´s own arrival to the country.

Required Documents:

  • Original Bill of Lading or express release for the sea shipments. Original AWB and legible inventories in English or Spanish from origin agent.
  • Client must sign a couple of forms in Chile, which are provided by WARD VAN LINES, such as authorization form to clear and customs declaration.
  • Client also has to provide copy of his passport showing identification page, last entry to Chile and work visa stamped.
  • Besides client must inform, in a document called DECLARACION DE ADUANA, the goods value in relation to the year when it was bought.

Vehicles:

  • They may only import new vehicles and will pay taxes and duties in full
  • Only document required is the commercial invoice.
Chilean citizens returning as per their length of time abroad.

Household Goods:

  • Chileans returning who has been abroad more than 6 months but less than 1 year, are only allowed to import up to US$ 500.- of used HHG or personal effects
  • Chileans returning who has been abroad more than 1 year and less than 5 years, are only allowed to import up to US$ 3.000.- of used HHG.
  • Chilean returning who has been abroad more than 5 years, are allowed to import up to US$ 5.000.- of used HHG.
  • Client must be in Chile before the shipment´s arrival.
  • The shipment may enter within 120 days from client´s arrival

Required Documents:

  • Original Bill of Lading or express release for the sea shipments/Original AWB for the air shipments.
  • Legible inventories in English or Spanish.
  • Client must sign customs declaration and authorization to clear shipment upon his arrival. Forms are provided by us.
  • Original Certificate issued by International Police Office from his City, showing travel history of shipper (in/out Chile) to apply to above categories.
  • Copy of passport showing identification page and last entry to Chile

Vehicles:

  • Chilean returning citizens may only import used vehicles providing they have been abroad more than 1 year. Taxes and duties are payable.
  • Client must check on customs web page ” www.aduana.cl” or send an e-mail to “informac@aduana.cl” to find out more details or additional information on taxes, duties, etc. Documents required:
    • Commercial Invoice
    • Proof of property (Title)
  • They can also import new vehicles under a standard import regulation for this commodity.
Foreign diplomats.

They may import new or used Household Goods. Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs will provide a duty free import license as per their Embassy´s or Organization´s request. Their allowances will directly depend on status of client.

Required Documents:

  • Original Bill of Lading / Original AWB.
  • Legible inventories in English or Spanish.
  • The Embassy/Organization will provide WARD VAN LINES, a proforma invoice, a valued list and written authorization to clear the shipment into the country..

Vehicles:

  • They may only import one new vehicle free of taxes or duties, provided the amount is into the total allowance authorized by Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Only document required is the commercial invoice.
Chilean diplomats and personnel returning from missions abroad or international organizations, such World Bank, IMF, defense ministry, etc.

Household Goods:

They may import up to US$ 25.000.- in used HHG free of taxes and duties.

Documents required from origin agent:

  • Original Bill of Lading / AWB
  • Legible inventories in English or Spanish.

Required documents from client:

  • Chilean diplomats returning from Missions abroad : Only staff from Defense Ministry must prepare a whole set of documents which are to be stamped by Chilean Defense Ministry or Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be submitted then to Chilean customs and once it is ready, client must provide a copy of valued inventory of HHG to WARD VAN LINES plus an authorization to clear.
  • Chilean personnel returning from International Organizations : Ward Van Lines will prepare a whole set of documents together with client, to be submitted to Chilean custom authorities.
  • Client must bring from originating Organization, Certificate (s) showing dates of his (her) stay abroad working with that specific Office. Also, certificate must show salaries earned during every year of work. Client also must submit work contract or letter of appointment. Above documents must be originals.
Pets.
  • Dogs and cats must arrive with an international Health Certificate and vaccination certificate
  • Documents must arrive attached to the AWB.
  • No quarantine applicable
  • They can be cleared immediately upon arrival. Please send a pre-alert with documents by fax
  • Pets must arrive in working hours during labor days and must be consigned to owner c/o Ward Van Lines.
Prohibited items or articles.
